Colin Morrison is a former journalist who has been CEO of magazines, business information, and news media in the UK, Australia and across Europe for companies including: Hearst, Axel Springer, Australian Consolidated Press, EMAP, Reed Elsevier, and Future. He has been heavily involved in international partnerships, joint ventures and strategic alliances in media. He is now a non-executive director and strategy consultant to news, information and entertainment companies principally in Europe and the AsiaPacific. Since 2011, he has been writing an award-winning a long-form blog on the challenges for traditional media at www.flashesandflames.com. In 2016, he was honoured as "An Influencer" by Folio in the US which said: "Colin Morrison uses his authoritative and entertaining voice to critique the media industry. He is an insightful and entertaining mind in a wobbly industry, and Flashes & Flames serves as a forceful watchdog." In the UK, he was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 2018. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and of the Industry & Parliament Trust; and a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Stationers & Newspaper Makers. He is a member of the Cook Society and the Royal Television Society, and a Council member of The Media Society. He was formerly: chairman of Magazine Publishers of Australia, and of British Business Press; and a director of the UK Professional Publishers’ Association.
